Proposed Arrangement of TILBURY2

WHAT IS A ‘CMAT’

A variety of raw materials to be used in construction will be brought to the TILBURY2 site by ship and stored. Production facilities will be provided to make asphalt and concrete blocks, and the terminal will include a concrete silo on the riverside. Materials will leave the site by rail, barge and road.

WHAT IS THE RORO TERMINAL

The RoRo Terminal will operate freight ferries to Europe, transporting largely trailers and containers. These will be taken aboard or removed by ‘tractors’. No cranes are proposed on the jetty. On land, containers could be stored in stacks of up to six high.

WORKS IN THE RIVER

There is an existing deep water jetty on the river frontage in the Thames. This will be extended both upstream and downstream allowing one berth for aggregate ships and two for RoRo ships.
